Maelle — Expedition 33 (White)
A digital oil portrait of Maelle from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, painted in the tradition of classical figurative work. Rendered entirely in digital paint with the weight, texture, and palette of a physical oil piece on canvas.
Fourteen hours of painting across three days, worked in the manner of a traditional portrait study. Directly inspired by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres' Portrait of Madame Edmond Cavé (ca. 1831 - 34, Metropolitan Museum of Art), a study built on the restraint of a limited warm palette, the shadow mass anchoring the profile, and the figure dissolving gently into an aged ground. The same structural choices carry the piece here, translated to a contemporary subject.
Limited palette of rust, ochre, and cream. Signed archival giclée print, open edition.
